Running Races Using Hurdles / Specs For International Standards

Each track & field lane is 4 feet wide. Each lane in a hurdles race - requires ten hurdles,
...whether its 60 or 100 meters, 110 meters, or 400 meters.
For example, if you have have seven runners for a women's 400 meter race,
...you would need 70 hurdles (7 runners X 10 hurdles). Each hurdle would be 43 " wide and 30 inches high.

Details concerning height requirements for various races, shown below:.

>>>  The highest hurdles, 42 inches, are used for men's 60 and 110 meter races.
These are called 'college high' or 'open high.'  This also applies to Olympics and professional races.

>>>  For High School boys, the high hurdles are usually 39 inches

>>>  For men's 400 meters, it's 36 inches, also known as 'intermediate height'

>>>  Women's high hurdles for 60 and for 100 meters, is 33 inches.

>>>  Women's 400 meter races use 30 inch high hurdles

>>>  Young and elder runners generally use hurdles from 24" to 30"
